case study on Modern Residential Design

Margaritaville Residence

Location: Bee Cave, TEXAS
Completed: 2025
Scope: New Construction
Style: Modern Contemporary with Art Deco Influence

A FOREVER HOME DESIGNED TO HOST

This project was designed as a long-term family home — one that could grow with its owners while serving as a place to gather, celebrate, and reflect their personal journey. The vision called for a modern, architectural foundation layered with art deco moments that introduce color, character, and individuality.

Our primary challenge was designing a highly open, light-filled home on a steep hillside lot — balancing expansive views, structural constraints, and family-friendly livability without sacrificing sophistication.

  • Create a functional, welcoming home that supports everyday family life alongside holidays, parties, and large gatherings.

  • Work with the elevated site to design a layout that embraces the landscape while maintaining flow, openness, and ease of movement.

CAPTURING MODERN ELEGANCE WITH PERSONALITY

View-Driven Design:
Window walls and expansive openings were used throughout the home to showcase the surrounding landscape, allowing the views to become a defining architectural feature.

Hospitality-Inspired Planning:

Generous entertaining spaces, an open floor plan, and a pool oriented toward the view create a home that transitions effortlessly from daily living to hosting.

Personal Storytelling:

The client’s achievements and personal history are woven throughout the space through curated art and thoughtful design moments, giving the home depth beyond its architecture.

TEXTURE-RICH, CONTEMPORARY DESIGN

Architectural Foundations:
White oak, limestone, steel, and concrete forms establish a clean, modern base that feels grounded, timeless, and intentional.

Statement Elements:

Custom features including a floating staircase, concrete soaking tub, hidden doors, massive pocket doors, and an infinity-edge pool add drama while maintaining restraint.

Refined Palette:

A neutral color story of whites, creams, greys, beiges, and black is punctuated with art deco-inspired pops of color, creating contrast without overwhelming the space.

MADE FOR FAMILY + LEGACY

Designed to support both everyday routines and milestone moments, this home functions beautifully as a forever residence — open, warm, and deeply personal.

Post-completion, the home delivers exactly what the clients envisioned: a family-friendly environment that celebrates achievement, frames extraordinary views, and invites connection. Minimal, low-profile furnishings in leather, live-edge wood, and modern silhouettes reinforce the home’s masculine, contemporary character while remaining comfortable and livable.

Grounded in architecture, elevated by design, and built for the long term, this residence is both a retreat and a reflection of the life lived within it.
